FAQ
Facts
and Questions
Q: What do you mean that you are my record label?
A: First of all, other record companies are going to want to
control your music. And even if you can get your song on the radio, they
take most of the profit from that as well. Our agreement is very unrestrictive.
There are none of the normal restrictive and loaded verbage in our agreement.
We effectively become your Record Company, and provide you with a barcode.
That is the basis of our professional relationship.
Q: Can I use my barcode on another album?
A: No, you must have separate barcodes on each album. They do not transfer.
Q: Why does the barcode have to be associated
with a record label?
A: Legally there must be a Record Company. You are free to pursue your
own UPC barcode later using the same product.
Q: If I go with Christian Barcodes to provide
me with a record label and a barcode, can I still sign an agreement with
another record label?
A: Yes, you are free to pursue a contract with another company, and
to sign with that company using the same name of the album. You see, they
would have to provide you a new barcode which has their company code in
the barcode. However, we suspect that your new record company will request
a new name for your album.

Q: Is this some
elaborate plan to steal everyones' music?
A: No. Read the agreement. It's all very clear. We do not own the copyright
on your songs or videos.
Q: I am a Christian but my album is an exercise
video. Is this a problem?
A: What you choose to place on your CD is up to you. We are not responsible
for the content of your work.
Q: I'm not a Christian. Isn't this discriminatory?
A: No. There are many Christian record labels out there who only sign
agreements with professing Christians.
There are secular companies out there that can work with you.
Q: What if the record company that wants to sign
me is nervous about this agreement?
A: We will gladly contact your new record company and congratulate
you and them for working out a contract that has nothing to do with us.
Q: Can I cancel our barcode after it is listed
with Soundscan?
A: Once you are listed with Soundscan, you are listed for the forseable
future.
